With Back To Earth currently sat at the very top of the Beatport Top 100 chart and having knocked David Guetta from his perch to get there, the Futuristic Polar Bears are without doubt the most talked about Polar Bears on the planet right now. While the excitement and buzz continues to grow around the trio, we managed to catch a moment with them to find out just how this adventure Back To Earth has been over the last few weeks…
Guys, it’s only February and, well, it’s been crazy – give us a Polar Bear update of the year so far!
It certainly has been crazy! We started off the year breaking into the Billboard Dance Charts in America with our track Thundergod alongside our buddy Danny Howard from BBC Radio 1. That’s still going strong now and rising every week which is amazing and we’re hoping to break the top 20 with that (there’s also a remix package featuring Pink Panda, Carvelo and Trevor Simpson out now!). On top of that we’ve been gearing up for our debut release on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings which has kept us very busy. Everything is going really well with that and we’re now #1 on the Beatport chart which, as I’m sure you can imagine, is an amazing feeling!!
Back To Earth has had phenomenal feedback – how exactly did you end up getting the track signed to Revealed?
We had a chat with the guys over the summer about what music we’d like to make who we’d be aiming at and what DJs and labels we wanted to target. This was the first track we’d made over the summer and it was totally mind blowing when we got the email back saying they wanted to sign it.
Wow, that must have been a nightmare to keep secret – what was it like when Hardwell started to tease it on his show?
We were at the cinema watching “Wolf Of Wall Street” and managed to get out of the cinema just before Hardwell played the track. We have the Twitter app on our phones and the alerts just went crazy we had over 1000 interactions in the first 40mins after he’d played it and the feedback and support ever since has been amazing.
And now everything’s gone Polar Bear mad! What’s been the best bit of feedback or DJ support you’ve had since the release?
The support has been amazing from our DJ peers, and it’s been nice to speak to certain DJs and producers that congratulated us on our track. It’s always been a great feeling to see how many of the A-listers have been supporting the track in their radio shows.
Did you expect to see this chart position after a week?!
We knew it had a chance of doing well as the feedback had been amazing and every Revealed release does well (Revealed’s PR and marketing is the best and we want to thank the guys for their efforts). But this has been unreal!!
We’ve all seen the footage of Hardwell dropping the track at TomorrowWorld (which is UNREAL) – have you guys had chance to drop it in your sets and see the crowd reaction first hand yet?
Yeah we’ve been playing it since September all over the world and the reaction has been amazing. I think the best reaction we’ve seen was playing it in Bangkok, Thailand just before Christmas, they went crazy for it.
You’ve set the bar high for this year already, what else can we expect to see from you guys in the next few months?
We’ve got some amazing releases coming out on John Dahlback’s label Mutants and Harem Records (Sultan & Ned’s label) as well as working on our follow up of Back To Earth. We’ve also got a new collaboration with Danny Howard coming so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Thanks chaps!
