Having been brought into the Size camp under label head Steve Angello’s tutelage, young Swedish duo Wayne & Woods are now ready to step out with their first official release on the label. Proving that their time spent working in the studio has paid dividends, they have teamed up with fast rising Miami talent Henrix on the huge ‘Jumangee’, which is set for release on 8th July. This is Henrix’s follow-up to his Size debut release ‘Hit It’, which took over WMC by storm earlier this year.
Every bit as powerful as the name suggests, the track is a fierce percussive club track built with finesse and boundless energy. Offsetting electric chords against a bumping beat and heavy half-time breakdown, ‘Jumangee’ is as fresh as it is commanding.
Having bided their time perfecting their craft under the mentorship of Angello himself, Wayne & Woods are ready to unleash the first official fruits of their labour. Norman Doray, the prolific French DJ & producer, brings his inimitable style to Avicii’s highly acclaimed label, ‘Le7els’. Due for release this July, the highly anticipated new single ‘Filtré’ showcases a different side to Doray’s productions as he delivers a fresh funk-inspired house record.
“It’s a real different track from what I usually do”, said Norman. “It was more of a side track that I did for me to listen to as I love French house […]. But I thought it would be interesting to put this record out and see how the new “EDM” generation would react.”
Taking heavy influences from Daft Punk and Crydamoure Records, Doray diverts away from the big room sound’s traditional pathways, veeing toward a tech-inflected groove. Focusing on instrumentation, ‘Filtré’ is a mix of energised beats, horn samples, and the glowing undertone of bass. Norman’s first record on the illustrious Le7els imprint and the affiliation between these two substantial artists is set to send shockwaves around the world of dance music.
Having successfully ridden the worldwide explosion of global EDM, Norman Doray sites his main influences as his French roots: disco, French House, and French Touch purveyors Daft Punk. On the Higher EP, available now everywhere via Boysnoize/OWSLA/Onelove Records, Destructo solidifies his decades-long career in electronic music. “Higher” sees Destructo melding dreamlike melodies with an unmatched funky groove, while “2112” perfectly depicts Destructo’s obsession with technology and futuristic sounds as the bouncing bass ebbs and flows from beginning to end. Also included on the Higher EP are remixes of “Higher” from Destructo allies Brodinski, who brings the original track to a slow techno burn, and Tommy Trash. Both “Higher” and “2112” were co-produced with U-Tern of Oliver.
Since it’s release on Beatport June 10, the Higher EP peaked as a #1 tech house new release on Beatport, with both “Higher” and “2112” both charting in the Top 50 of the tech house chart. Collectively, tracks on the EP have garnered over 250,000 plays on SoundCloud and have been included on Skrillex’s “Essential Mix” on Radio 1. Following the release of Dirty South’s stunning debut album ‘Speed of Life’ earlier this year and the recent Beatport topping success of Alesso’s remix of OneRepublic’s ‘If I Lose Myself’, the pair have announced that they will be releasing two new remixes of their hit 2012 single ‘City Of Dreams’ featuring Ruben Haze from Showtek and Jacques Lu Cont, alongside a brand new video. Having remixed Jozif’s “Twilight” for John Digweed’s “Live In London” opus and played at the Bedrock anniversary party where the live recording was made, Spain’s Edu Imbernon has already demonstrated a brilliant ear for pulsating house music. Now, he returns, having teamed up with fellow Spaniard Triumph, with “Veranoski” – another haunting masterclass in dancefloor dynamics.
Edu Imbernon is a great example of how a young artist can quickly make their mark on the electronic scene, his worldwide hit – “El Baile Alemán” (produced with his friend Coyu), was lauded as “Best Underground Track of the Year” by Beatport in 2009. Since then, he has continued his steady ascent up the ladder towards house music stardom, with quality remixes for the likes of The XX and Maya Jane Coles, amongst others. His productions have featured on notable labels like Get Physical, Noir Music, Trapez, Great Stuff, Diynamic, alongside his own Eklektisch label. He’s also resident for Kehakuma at Space, Ibiza.
The superb remix of “Veranoski” comes from another of Spain’s finest – Henry Saiz – whose outings on Bedrock are always exceptional. Henry’s critically acclaimed “Balance 019” album, released in 2011, was the catalyst for his star potential explode around the globe. His superb collaboration with Guy J (“Meridian”) and his solo track (“La Marea”) for the landmark Bedrock 100 release, were of the highest level of quality and his “Cryptozoologist EP” (BEDDIGI27) was one of 2012’s highlights. Here, his remix of “Veranoski” once again proves Henry Saiz is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinarily talented young producers around.

World-renowned Italian producer and DJ Benny Benassi is releasing his next highly anticipated single “Dance The Pain Away” featuring multi Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter John Legend July 6 via Ultra Music. Co-produced with his production partner and cousin Alle Benassi, “Dance The Pain Away” is a bona fide summer anthem that will ignite the crowds this festival season. The duo unveiled “Dance The Pain Away” to the world at this year’s Coachella (Saturday, April 13) when Legend made a special surprise appearance during Benny’s stellar performance at the Sahara Tent. Production powerhouse Sirkus Sirkuz sets the standard for the 2013 summer with his feel-good rework of Tijuana’s latest offering ‘Heaven Bound’. As we’ve come to expect from his discography, this remix is stuffed with uplifting melodies that re-energise the vocals from the original track in true Sirkus Sirkuz form. With Benny Benassi already backing the EP and the package boasting another robust remix from Cut La Roc, we’re looking forward to watching this release hit the sky.

The first half of this year has been hectic for T.Williams, to say the least, but having ensured his studio time throughout the London producer is now ready to drop his first original material of the year. ‘Three Letters’ is the first single to emerge and is a pre-cursor to his forthcoming EP for PMR Records, the follow-up to last year’s acclaimed ‘Pain & Love’ EP.
‘Three Letters’ keeps things focused on the dance floor while deftly showcasing the evolution in Williams’ sound. At once both immediate and nuanced, the groove and feeling are undeniable; driven by a taut garage-inflected swing, the soaring diva vocals and infectiously layered riffs perfectly temper the track’s bumping, swollen bassline.
Whether its his increasingly hectic international touring schedule, his recently finished weekly radio show on leading underground station Rinse FM or being brought into to remix a breadth of artists, from Lianne La Havas to Wretch 32, 2013 has been filled with exciting steps forward for T.Williams. Having just returned from New York where he was a participant in the lauded Red Bull Music Academy, ‘Three Letters’ and the subsequent EP will undoubtedly prove to be a watershed moment in his career.

During the weekend of September 6 to 8, Aruba with its warm waters and miles of white powdery beaches that have been named some of the best in the world will host the launch of the Electric Festival (EF) which is to become the largest global and annual electronic music conference in the Caribbean. Hereby, showcasing Arubas leading role in furthering the electronic dance movement in the Latin American and Caribbean region. EF will be more than just a dance music event by encompassing and portraying creative arts, cuisine and lifestyle in general. The first edition of EF will be held in Aruba in 2014 with a music conference powered by Amsterdam Dance Event and a playground of studio sessions, workshops and exhibitions for DJs, producers, artists and fans.
EF is being organized in conjunction with the Aruba Tourism Authority, Amsterdam Dance Event, Evenpro and Dirty Dutch. The Aruba Tourism Authority is excited to be the main sponsor of EF as this event is to grow into an internationally respected event and become an independent driver of a new stream of visitors for the island. This will allow Aruba to expand and renew the base of visitors and cater to future affluent generations of tourists.
This year, the launch of EF will include a series of events across the weekend. EF will include performances by Aruba resident, world-renowned and Forbes Worlds Greatest DJs listed and music producer DJ Chuckie. Accompanying Chuckie will be former Guns N Roses lead guitarist, Slash, who has been induced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Also present will be DJ Mags prestigious Top 100 #6 ranked and IDMAs Best Breakthrough DJ of 2012 and Best European DJ of 2013, Hardwell.
Last year, Chuckie proved that while Aruba may be small, it is a contender as one of the top EDM destinations. What started out as an event to celebrate the Dutch DJ, producer and label heads birthday celebrations expanded to become an 8,000 capacity event, drawing a varied array of international stars that included the likes of Akon, Jasmine Villegas, Just Blaze, Robin van Persie and Dirk Kuyt (both soccer players for the Netherlands National Team).
This years launch will also include a groundbreaking event for the youth of Aruba Solarbeats. Solarbeats is an initiative of Play Foundation, a foundation that has been created with the purpose of bringing the youth closer to their love for music. During Solarbeats, Play Foundation will announce the Ultimate School contest where the winning school will win a party with DJ, Artist and Producer Chuckie and other gifts such as solar panels, whiteboards and iPads.
